Ivan Coffey started his surveying career in 1979 with Chartered Surveyors Daniel Smith
(now Cluttons). In his early years of training at Daniel Smith, Ivan was attached to the South
London Estate of the Duchy of Cornwall, and later to the Eyre Estate in St John’s Wood.
During this time Ivan qualified as a member of the Royal Institution of Chartered Surveyors
(RICS).
In 1998 Ivan moved to the London office of Weatherall Green and Smith, now trading as
international property consultants BNP Paribas. When a new office was opened by
Weatheralls in Bristol, Ivan was appointed to set up and run the building surveying
department for commercial property in the South West of England and Wales.
Ivan Coffey Associates was established in 1992, offering a full range of professional services
consistent with experience gained from leading residential and commercial practices.
Ivan was elected a Fellow of the RICS in 1999.
The current practice has a strong reputation for comprehensive and accurate survey reports
which give a clear understanding of the condition of a building’s structure and fabric.
The survey reports are individual and bespoke for each property, avoiding large numbers of
computer generated clauses typical of standard formats.
The practice has flourished as a result of regular recommendations by past clients, and by
legal advisers to their clients.
